March Madness in Middle Tennessee

Top youth drum corps teams bring routines to the ’Boro.

Drum Corps International competitions are taking place all over the nation this summer and the Masters of the Summer Music Games was held at MTSU’s Floyd Stadium on Friday, July 13.

Thousands between the ages of 13-22 compete for slots on a DCI team each year. Over the past 30 years, DCI has grown into a huge organization, holding competitions all over the world, 130 of which take place in the U.S., showcasing these remarkable marching routines.

The big winners in Murfreesboro this year were the Blue Devils, from Concord, Calif., in first, the Cadets, from Allentown, Pa., in second and the Cavaliers, from Rosemont, Ill., in third.
