Even in a Drought, Raindrops can still fall

On a sunny June day at a picnic at Devlin Organic Farms, I met Gaia Tossing, a licensed health practitioner. She is a certified instructor of Applied Aromatic Science, an approved provider of C.E. hours for the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, a Registered Certified Reflexologist, a licensed massage therapist since 1984, a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association and currently operates a private practice in Nashville and Hendersonville using essential oils with bodywork therapies.

All very impressive, but what inspired my interest was learning about the Raindrop Technique. As luck would have it. Gaia, a Board Certified Raindrop Specialist, was teaching a class for Raindrop Technique certification and I was a guest client for her class.

My knowledge of essential oils was quite basic. I knew essential oils are the fluids that run through plants, tress and flowers. These oils have been carefully extracted and distilled for our use. For plants, trees and flowers, essential oils are its “blood” which sustains and regenerates its life force and form. Using quality essentials oils can do the same for the human system.

Murfreesboro Pulse: Who developed the Raindrop Technique?

Gaia: The Raindrop Technique was developed by Dr. Gary Young of Young Living Essential Oils during the 1980s.

What is a Raindrop Technique?

Gaia: A Raindrop Technique is a sequence of anointing with essential oils and laying of hands to the back, feet and spine that brings structural and electrical alignment to the body. It utilizes various aspects of conventional body work, VitaFlex, aromatherapy, Native American healing techniques and adaptations of reflexology and acupressure.

The purpose of a Raindrop Technique is to stimulate every muscle, bone and organ of the body at a cellular level through the oils, dropped like raindrops on the spine and applied to the feet. The oils along the spine go deep into affected tissues, while oils used along the spinal reflex points of the feet work through the bloodstream and the electrochemical nervous system network.

A Raindrop Technique reaches all levels of the mind, body and emotions. This technique stimulates detoxification, can lead to permanent healing and strong emotions can be released. Benefits may not be apparent immediately and varies for each person. A Raindrop Technique is both a science and an art.

What is theVitaFlex Technique?

Gaia: Researched and perfected in the 1960s by Stanley Burroughs, the VitaFlex Technique of ancient Tibetan origin was introduced to the West even before acupuncture. VitaFlex means “vitality through the reflexes” and is based on the network of reflex points that stimulates the internal body systems. Applied to these contact points, essential oils are released through electrical impulses and follow these nerve pathways which break into the electrical circuit where toxins, damaged tissue and loss of oxygen are found.

Why do you have to use therapeutic grade essential oils?

Gaia: Therapeutic essential oils provide a hostile environment for viruses and bacteria. These pathogens often lead to inflammation and contortion of the spine.

The oils used and the reasons for their use for a Raindrop Technique are:

? Balancing Blend: (Valor/Young Living formulation) Contains oils of spruce rosewood, blue tansey and frankincense in an almond oil base). These oils balance bodily electiricities and stimulate spinal alignment.

? Oregano: One of the most powerful antimicrobial essential oils.

Thyme – Antiseptic, immune enhancing and supportive of body’s natural defenses.

? Basil: Can be relaxing to voluntary and involuntary muscles. It is mentally invigorating It is used for tension headaches, and can improve the senses of taste and smell.

? Wintergreen: Supports joints and skeletal structure.

? Marjoram: Relaxing to involuntary and voluntary muscles. It is soothing to nerves, used for migraines and is antiseptic.

? Cypress: Antimicrobial and supportive of the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and stimulates the body’s natural white corpuscle production.

? Peppermint: Supports digestive, respiratory and nervous systems. It has been used for headaches and research has shown that inhaling peppermint improves concentration and mental retention. It is also detoxing to the liver.

? Muscle Relaxing Blend: (oils of basil, marjoram, lavender, peppermint and cypress) It calms, relaxes and relieves tension.

? Soothing Massage Blend: (wheat germ, grape seed, almond, olive and vitamin E and essential oils of wintergreen, juniper, marjoram, red thyme, vetiver, peppermint, eucalyptus and lemongrass) Soothes muscle aches and minor swelling and contains natural antioxidants.

Since the Raindrop Technique varies with each individual, I will keep my comments about my experience to myself. I prefer not to influence anyone’s expectations and experience. Should you feel a “drought” in your well-being, contact Gaia at gctoss@yahoo.com and you, too, can feel those healing raindrops.
