I have found many events in life are serendipitous. A good example is how we meet new friends who click with you immediately and enrich your life. That is just how I felt when I met my good friend Brenda Lee, the founder and owner of Genesis Healing Center in Lascassas.
While crunching on some carrot and celery sticks at an “After Hours” social sponsored by The Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce, I met Brenda. We were seated next to each other quite accidentally and we were both feeling a bit lost in the huge crowd. We started talking and we have been great friends ever since.
Genesis Healing Center focuses on cleansing and detoxifying the body. I have gone through a short cleansing and detoxifying program at Genesis and have attended the monthly Saturday 80-percent raw food and 20-percent cooked food group luncheon. A couple of weeks ago, I finally tried out the Migun Thermassage table.

Brenda: Migun is a highly advanced form of bodywork inspired by the principles of acupuncture and chiropractics. This thermal massage table uses a combination of acupressure and far-infrared heat which follows the main energy pathways of the body. This relaxes muscles, improves flexibility of the spine, enhances circulation and restores balance to the mind and body.
MP: How does Migun work?
Brenda: You simply lie down on the Migun table. The heated jade massage heads roll underneath the entire length of the body. Treatments last between 15 to 60 minutes and cover a wade range of goals including mediation, relaxation to intense therapeutic relief.
MP: Who created Migun and where is it manufactured?
Brenda: Since 1988, the equipment has been manufactured in South Korea by Migun Medical Instruments Company. Migun has since become the leader in infrared massage systems. It opened its U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles in 1998 and the FDA approved the Migun in 2003.
MP: How safe is Migun?
Brenda: Migun is safe and has been thoroughly researched and perfected at universities in Korea, China and most recently at the University of California Irvine Medical School.
MP: Are there any contraindications?
Brenda: Women who are pregnant and those using a pacemaker are advised not to do Migun. People with severe osteoporosis, or who have steel rods/pins should consult with a physician before using Migun.
MP: Will there be any discomfort?
Brenda: If you are new to bodywork, it is normal to experience mild soreness after a treatment. This will dissipate over a short time and with repeated treatments.
MP: What is far-infrared light?
Brenda: Far-infrared light is the beneficial part of the sun’s spectrum that is invisible to the human eye and felt as heat.
MP: Why is jade used in Migun equipment?
Brenda: Jade contains vital elements for the human body including calcium and magnesium, and it is the best natural conductor of infrared heat.
MP: What is the temperature range of the Migun table?
Brenda: 104 – 158 degrees Fahrenheit.
MP: Is it beneficial to do Migun only once in a while?
Brenda: You will receive benefit with a single session, but with consistent use you will have long-term benefits.
MP: What should I wear?
Brenda: You should wear comfortable clothing and you can remain fully clothed with the exception of shoes and belt.
MP: What should I do after the
massage?
Brenda: Migun is a detoxifying treatment, so we encourage people to drink plenty of purified water to ensure that all toxins released during the treatment will be flushed from the body.
