Get the Sunday night spins at The Boro

It’s Sunday night in Murfreesboro and DJ Spice J is making sure there is something to do.

Since April, Spice J has hosted Sunday Spin at The Boro Bar & Grill. He has been DJing for eight years, getting his start at MTSU’s radio station, WMTS, eventually moving on to playing parties and other events.

An idea for a weekly DJ night at the Boro came up and he was suggested to host.

“Thus it was born,” said Justin, a.k.a. Spice J.

The reason that he was chosen is clear, given his charismatic personality, exemplified with his theory of “It’s always a party with me.”

As far as the music played at these events, one never knows what to expect. Each week is different, given the different guest DJs, which have included DJ Wick-It and Makeup and Vanity Set, playing everything from electronic to hip-hop.

When Spice J gets onstage, he turns on ’80s pop, ’90s hip-hop and some mash-ups, seeing as “everybody’s into the nostalgia thing. I like playing it. It’s what I grew up with,” he said.

Overall, Spice J just wants people to have a good time and be “entranced with these hot jams I’m playing.”
