The most entertaining event in basketball has passed us by. Four NBA stars showed their stuff in the latest dunk competition over all-star weekend.
Each provided some high-flying photo ops; J.R. Smith going out and nailing the double bounce on first attempt deserved a little more credit than he got.
A small piece of Kryptonite did bring down Superman when it was all over. The results bring up the question of which is better: something so ambitious and nearly impossible executed at a satisfactory level (he did have to put his hand on Howard, plus the big man ducked) or something with a little less theatrics to it, but still just as amazing executed flawlessly (Howard’s pass to himself off the side of the backboard as he stretched his arm out for at least a mile, coming down for a powerful, extended slam).
There’s a lot of great music here in the ’Boro lately with Augustana, Chris Young and Stacey Mitchhart (all featured this issue, coincidently) coming through. I always love the mashing up of genres that don’t necessarily seem to fit together at first glance, such as country and symphonic. Hey, I appreciate everything from Bone Thugs to Beethoven.
A former professor once made the observation that more often than not, when someone insults another, or expresses criticism, the criticism is more applicable to the person delivering it than the one it was intended to describe. Think about that the next time you’re about to slam someone. Is the next thing coming out of your mouth really more a reflection of your own insecurities than a description of whomever you’re intending to call out?
Motorists are beginning to notice the new blue signs around town pointing to area attractions. They’re not just for tourists either, I had no idea what Redoubt Brannon was until I saw the sign?I’ll have to visit.
My first Valentine’s Day married to Mrs. Mayo was lovely, thanks for asking, a little classical music, a few strawberries.
