Streetlight Allstars

Where The Sidewalk Ends

4 pulses

Where The Sidewalk Ends is a good sampling of material from the Streetlight Allstars that shows the group’s range of talent.

With smooth beats and memorable hooks, the Murfreesboro band showcases its abilities on both the microphone and turntable. Each song on the album is different and has its own unique sound. Their talent for writing is easily heard in the majority of the tracks.

The instrumentation is the backbone of this album because it isn’t that of a typical rap sound. The album is a combination of rap-style beats and reggae-style beats, which helps the album stand on its own. Some of the songs are weak lyrically, but those songs are carried by the songs that pack a lyrical punch.

The sound that the Streetlight Allstars has created is unique and that works to their advantage. They’ve taken their reggae, rap and hip-hop influences and mixed them with Eminem-style rhymes dripping with alliteration and creativity.

Streetlight Allstars has put together an album that has substance, talent and creativity. The less-than-polished sound is heavily outweighed by the creativity and originality of the lyrics and instrumentation.

Learn about rap before you write a RAP MUSIC CRITIC. Eminem these guys sound nothing like him. Not your typical rap sound. Rap has a range of sounds just like every genre of music. Just because they dont make dope boy radio rap doesnt make it non stereotypical rap. ps the RIM hip hop class does not count!!!
