The Secret Commonwealth and Kasey Lansdale will join forces Saturday, June 28, at 3 Brothers Deli and Brewhouse for a concert benefiting Equality Now and Can’t Stop the Serenity. These are charities sponsored by writer/director Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Serenity/Firefly).
A local chapter of Joss Whedon fans (“Whedonites United”) puts on this benefit concert annually around Whedon’s birthday, which is the 23rd of June.
The Secret Commonwealth has played the benefit for several years now, and this year singer/songwriter Kasey Lansdale will perform as a special guest. Lansdale was recently a CMA Debut Spotlight artist, and her nearly non-stop touring is building a strong following of fans. Kasey, the daughter of author Joe Lansdale, has two songs in the new movie Cold in July, based on a novel by her father.
The festivities begin at 7 p.m. and admission is $5. Find 3 Brothers at 114 N. Church St.
