Joyce Cummings’ Paintings Showcased at Murfree Art Gallery

The MTSU Department of Art’s Todd Art Gallery announces an opening of artwork from community artist Joyce Cummings at the Rutherford County Property Assessor’s office, Friday, Jan. 30, from 3–4 p.m. Cummings’ art, along with art from MTSU students, will remain on display through mid-March.

Cummings has resided in Murfreesboro since 2004. She states as her goals as a painter as “being able to create an image that is pleasing, memorable and endearing to the viewer.” She is quite versatile in her skills and often works outside of the typical oil and acrylics and frequently uses material other than canvas on which to paint.

Those students participating in the ongoing exhibition include Kandace Lovett, Holly Hagan, Chloe Campbell, Kari Owen, Erin Potter, Kyle Baker, Jenn Tipton, Monica Kay, Katie Mullins and Sarah Al-Ansari.

The Murfree Art Gallery is a collaboration between Property Assessor Rob Mitchell and the MTSU Department of Art. All exhibits are free and open to the public. Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. and are located on the second floor of the Rutherford County Office Building located at 319 N. Maple St.
