Oaklands Mansion to Host Beer Festival Sept. 26

Oaklands Mansion will host Murfreesboro’s inaugural Oktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 5–10 p.m. This fundraiser will support Oaklands Mansion and will feature many local craft brewers such as The Green Dragon, The Casual Pint, O’Possum’s, Saw Works, Panther Creek, Duck Rabbit, Mayday, Good People Brewery, Lagunitas and the MidState Brew Crew, to name a few.

The Casual Pint’s Mobile Pint, a portable entertainment system with five taps, large televisions and speakers, will show college football games. The event will also include energetic live music, a variety of family-friendly activities for festival-goers of all ages and some delicious treats from local food trucks. Guides will bring our local history to life with 10-minute “teaser” tours of the historic mansion held between 5:30 and 7 p.m.

“Local brewers love doing community outreach to support our valued history, and what better place to do that than Oaklands?” said Lindsey Whitley, event organizer. “We have a genuine treasure in Oaklands Mansion. However, we need your help to continue our mission of education and preservation,” she continued.

Oaklands Historic House Museum, located at 901 N. Maney Ave. in Murfreesboro, is a nationally registered historic landmark that reflects a time of prosperity in the Old South, as well as the hardships suffered during the Civil War.

Advance admission for craft beer drinkers is $35, and will increase to $40 at the gate.

Tickets are available at oaklandsmuseum.org. For more information on the event, call (615) 893-0022 or email events@oaklandsmuseum.org.
