Higher Thoughts for Everyday Living: Vol. IV

Middle Tennessee hypnotist, philosopher and motivator M.C. Radford encourages everyone to think positively and live life with a healthy, optimistic attitude. Here, he shares more points from his book Higher Thoughts for Everyday Living, suggesting that readers meditate on one each day—and be amazed at the positive changes that transpire in their lives.

What we are depends on what we think. We must learn that all power comes from within. There is no power in a creative thing. All power is in the Creator or universal mind. The world of thought, which is the real power, is invisible. The visible world is only the reflection of the invisible world.

Thought is controlled by the mind. This invisible power is in each one of us; and when we realize this, we will find the solution to our every problem.

When you find peace, harmony, success and good health in the invisible world, it will be reflected in your physical or visible world.

To have harmony within means you have taken control of your thoughts. This is why there is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

Your heartbeats, the circulation of your blood, or the fact that you grow taller are all controlled by the power and intelligence of the invisible world.

Every cell in your body has intelligence and every organ in your body has a job to do. They do a perfect job unless we interfere with our negative and restrictive thinking and actions.

The universal mind, or God if you prefer, is the Creator of the universe. The subconscious mind is connected and is a part of the universal mind. The subconscious mind only follows orders whether the orders come from the universal or the conscious mind.

If the conscious mind believes it, the subconscious mind creates it by sending that belief to the universal mind. This means that the unlimited creative power of the universal mind is under the control of the conscious mind of each one of us.

Never tell the infinite how to solve your problem. You only register your desire. As the Good Book says, ‘‘The ways of the infinite is past finding out, which means the infinite knows all the shortcuts.’’

When you learn to control yourself, you will find the world within controls the world without.

There is a world within—a world of thought, feelings and power. The world within is the invisible world. The real world, the world without, or the visible world is only the reflection of the world within.

We are related to the world without (the physical world) by the conscious mind. We are related to the Creator (the universal mind) by the subconscious mind.

Every condition you have in your life is the result of your habitual attitude. Your attitude depends on what you think about most of the time.

Think about this: one atom of sodium and one of chlorine gives us salt. This combination alone can give you salt; no other combination of elements can give you salt. Likewise the same thought will always be followed by the same consequence, and no other thought will serve the purpose.

You can choose what you think no matter what conditions you have around you. Whatever you continue to think will become your reality. There is no man-made law that is as much a finality as the law of your own mind. What you continue to think (or sow) in your mind has to become a reality in your future.

If you have a lot of problems in your life now, you only need to keep thinking about them—about how bad they are—and you multiply them in your future. Your future starts now.

Jesus said, “You will reap what you sow.” He was talking about what you sow in your mind. He said if you plant seeds on stony ground, they will not take root and grow. But if you plant them in fertile ground, they will grow and multiply. The stony ground he was referring to is your conscious mind or ego self. The deep fertile soil is your deeper or subconscious mind. The subconscious mind does not care what you plant. You can plant strawberries in the garden of your mind, and it will return strawberries to you. You can plant thorns, and it will return thorns to you. What are you planting in your mind right now?

I know any mental or physical pain I experience is my subconscious mind telling me I am headed in the wrong direction. It is telling me I must go into the invisible world and correct the cause. And the cause is the way I have been thinking. We can never change anything by working with the effect. The cause is always in the mind, and the explanation of why we have the problem is also the solution.

When the creative power of thought benefits all of humanity, it is called good. When the power of thought is used in a destructive or negative manner, it is called evil. So good and evil are simply words that were coined to describe a process of the results of creative thinking.

Your mental attitude will attract such conditions that correspond to its nature. Every thought creates an impression on the brain. Creative thinking is the true business of life. Power is the result.

You have access to all the power in the universe— your power of creative thinking. If you don’t use it, you make yourself a beast of burden for those who do—those who recognize their power. There are those who know that unless you are willing to think creatively, you will have to work; and the less you think, the less you will get paid.

Creative thought requires attention, and the power of attention is the weapon of the super successful. Attention develops spiritual power, and spiritual power is the greatest force in the universe.

Money consciousness is an attitude of mind, a positive receptive attitude. Desire is the force that sets the current in motion. Fear is that which stops the flow. Fear is poverty consciousness.

The first law of success is service to everyone. The greatest success will come to you as you help others. What benefits one, benefits all.

When you have an intense desire, you put the Creator to work.

Visualization is the process of making mental images, and the image is the mold or model which will serve as a pattern from which your future will emerge.

Remember: You are the only one who can place limitations on yourself. Hold the image firmly in your mind, and it will start to move closer and closer to you. The more you hold the image of what you want in your mind, the faster it will become a part of your life. This is a law of mind, and it works just as surely as the law of gravity.

If you want a better life, you must start holding better pictures in your mind.

Whatever pictures you continually hold in your mind (good or bad), the Creator creates it in your everyday life.

If you think about problems and turmoil, the Creator will create pain and confusion in your life. This is not to punish you; it is simply a lesson in cause and effect. The pain is the effect, and the cause is your wrong thinking. The law is: Think good and good things follow. Think bad and bad things follow.

Is there any way I can get the book by M.C. Redford named “power points for success” ( Believe in yourself). I received a copy of this book in the year 2006. It is pretty worn now and I was hoping I could buy or somehow get another copy. I love this book.
