Not Authentic

I tried Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant (feature in Pulse Vol. 3, Issue 13) last Sunday. It is not authentic Mexican food, and it was not good.

I had Shrimp Vallarta. There were a lot of shrimp, which was good, mixed with cheese, rice, onions, peppers, served on a flour tortilla. It tasted like fettuccini alfredo, but with rice.

By the way, the rice was not good?dry, not good flavor.

Overall, my food was tasteless.

My husband ordered fish tacos. They were good, served with rice and black beans. Again, the rice was just bad, not Mexican at all, and, by the way, we NEVER, NEVER serve rice as a side dish for tacos, burritos or tamales.

We will not come back to Garcia’s in Murfreesboro. As a Mexican, my favorite and most authentic restaurant around Nashville is El Arroyo, located in the limits of La Vergne and Antioch. They have some Americanized dishes, but also very well done and real authentic Mexican dishes: Menudo, Pozole, Gorditas, specials of the day, etc.

Or even Las Chivas, located in the former Harding Mall area, on Nolensville Road They serve the best green enchiladas.
