Robin Hood to play Oct. 6 at Rutherford Center for the Arts

The Murfreesboro/Rutherford County Center for the Arts continues its Cinema at the Center series at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, with a presentation of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938).

The center will be filled with excitement, danger and suspense as this classic sweeps across the screen. With an introduction from film historian, Candilyn Ford, and an exciting fencing demonstration, October’s Cinema at the Center is a treat for the entire family.

One of the most successful adventure films of all-time, The Adventures of Robin Hood has a vibrancy as fresh and stirring today as it had years ago. Errol Flynn as Robin Hood is a force to be reckoned with, whether it’s foiling evil Prince John (Claude Rains), dueling wicked Sir Guy Gisbourne (Basil Rathbone) or winning the hand of Maid Marian (Olivia de Havilland).

Robin Hood is presented as more than just the legendary figure who robs from the rich and gives to the poor; he is an activist-hero who fights injustice and cruelty.

Before the film presentation, a reception complete with Medieval treats will start at 1:30 p.m.

The Center for the Arts is located at 110 West College St. For more information or tickets, call (615) 904-ARTS or visit boroarts.org.
