Happy Thanksgiving

Of all the holidays with silly traditions . . . Thanksgiving is not one of them. Overeating, football and visiting with family, good stuff, God Bless America.

The Titans should be thankful for fourth quarters and Pac Man Jones. And winning their last five games of the season, oh wait, not yet.

In the spirit of getting fatter and watching TV, I pressed on with the Lost series this Thanksgiving weekend. I still applaud it as a very well-conceived and realized program, but they need to stop killing each other and just enjoy their tropical electro magnetic paradise.
I think the moral of the story is: don’t give guns to a bunch of nuts stranded on a island. They freak out. At least they never get bored.

Maybe the moral is: don’t create drama out of boredom; stop all this nonsense and jibber jabber. As Rose would say, don’t always be doing, sometimes just be.

Currently though, we are “doing” here at the new Pulse headquarters. Our downtown office is undergoing final preparations to be the base of operations for our local media empire. I think I’ll enjoy the central location, plenty of great restaurants within walking distance.
Also under construction is our website, boropulse.com.

The paper has finally joined the hundreds of fine local businesses in the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce.

And the Pulsemobile lives to deliver another day. Rising up from potentially career-ending injuries, it now starts fine, after minor surgery to the battery terminal. (Somehow, the doctor bled more than the car, though.) She has the happiest battery post ever now, all sanded and gelled up.

I had the opportunity to visit the Penguin house and talk with one of the coolest bands around (pictured above). They have a very thoughtful vibe about their tunes. I’m trying to be more of an editor, less of a writer, but these guys deserve some press.

I had some fun playing spades with the Lankford family on Thanksgiving, but it took me a few hands to realize “Oh yeah,in spades you have to pay attention to what was already played.”

So I pass that tidbit of wisdom on to you, the Pulse reader, for free.

Peace
Bracken Mayo, Editor in Chief
