Since the majority of New Year’s resolutions are dealing with fitness and the body, The Pulse thought we’d deliver some tips on how, why and where to get fit. With the large meals around the holidays, everyone wanting to go to Chef Wangs, and colder weather making it more difficult for outdoor activity, it’s sometimes a struggle around this time of year for me to maintain my hourglass figure.
You may see me from time to time at the MAC, but I don’t get there as much as I really need to. That’s no excuse though, since I have seen the results firsthand that habitual visits can bring. Plus, you can watch the morning news on the TVs positioned on each bike and treadmill, or even watch a feature film on the big screen in the group workout theater?the only that I know of in town.
I was going to contribute to this issue a photo and short review of my favorite local salad bar, but the folks at Ruby Tuesday said I could not photograph their lovely salad bar so you’ll just have to imagine. It doesn’t have the fruit and chips and salsa anymore anyway.
A special thanks to local law enforcement officers for keeping up with The Pulse and going “below” the call of duty by keeping the lower level of downtown safe. Don’t worry though, the only after-hours activity I’ve seen is disco bowling.
Speaking of the local police, everyone should stop by City Hall and check out MPD Officer Terry Spence’s photo exhibit. This guy has some amazing work, ranging from breathtaking, colorful nature images, to shots of public servants doing what they do.
We hit 1,000 friends this week on our myspace. Check out our page and feel free to leave any comments or questions for us there.
MTSU students are now back to the old routine. Keep us in mind if anyone needs a photography, design or writing internship.
I’ve been getting a feel of what it’s like to be on the other side of the interview. As a journalist, it’s interesting having to answer someone else’s questions. Look for a story on A Band Named June coming out in the next issue of The Pioneer, published at Volunteer State Community College.
For those who missed the anniverary party last week at Bluesboro, I hate it for you. There was a cool short film and some killer music?the very danceable piano rock of Fluid Ounces, the best version ever of “Margaritaville” by Paradise Daze and the rich symphonic intricacies of Juan Prophet Organization.
If you see our new ad rep, Chad, out on the town, he’ll tell you all about The Pulse. Give him a proper welcome, he came all the way from Florida to be a part of the ’Boro’s hottest publication. I feel honored.
Peace
