Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’07 for the Nintendo Wii gives players full power and control of every swing with the use of the motion-sensing capabilities of the Wii remote.
Holding the Wii remote like a golf club, players are able to make lifelike swing motions to actually hit the ball in the game. The more accurate you are with your swing, the better you’ll hit the ball. Any slight motion or twist of the wrist while swinging the Wii remote will get your swing off rhythm and you might end up in a bunker or, even worse, out of bounds.
I’ve never played a real game of golf, besides Putt-Putt of course, but playing Tiger Woods ’07 on the Wii is probably the closest I’ve ever gotten.
With six traditional game modes, 12 different multiplayer game modes and eight Arcade games, Tiger Woods ’07 is sure to keep gamers swinging their Wii remotes until their backs are sore. Some of the game modes include the Tiger Challenge, One Ball, Battle Golf, and the PGA Tour Season.
Tiger Challenge is a head-to-head challenge against the top golfers in the world to move up the ranks to eventually battle the number one ranked golfer, Tiger Woods. Players create their very own character in a remarkably detailed create-a-player mode. Every golfer you beat in the challenge earns you experience and money to buy other outfits and accessories for your golfer.
One Ball is a two- to four-player game in which players alternate shots using the same ball until someone gets the ball in the hole. The player that makes the shot wins the hole and is awarded the most points. The game is kind of tricky because you don’t want to set up a shot for your opponent to take the win, so you really got to think about how you want to approach your shot.
Battle Golf is a two-player match-play event where the winner of each hole removes a club from the opponent’s bag or adds one back to his own. This is a neat little spin to the original match-play and something interesting to try with a friend.
With 18 championship courses, Tiger Woods ’07 allows players to master the all-new Wii remote swing on courses such as Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, and many more. The game also has 35 of golf’s best pro and fantasy players, including Tiger Woods, John Daly, Vijay Singh, Annika Sorenstam and more.
Even with the lack of online play and the quality next-gen graphics of an Xbox 360 or PS3, the motion-sensing capabilities of the Nintendo Wii and the innovative Wii remote make Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’07 on the Wii the best and the most fun golf game this year. It’s a must buy for any Wii owner, even if your not a big fan of golf.
