GoGirls Music Festival
The GoGirls Music Festival will be from 5-10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at The Mercy Lounge. Since 2000, over 100 volunteer-run GoGirls shows have taken place, promoting women in music.
This year’s festival will feature performances by Treva & The Suits, Jenn Franklin, Kristen Cothron, Leigh Ann Yost, Susan Saruda, Debbie Watson and Jen Foster.
Proceeds benefit Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary, dedicated to rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected animals in Middle Tennessee. For more information, visit gogirlsmusic.com or freedomfarm.net.
Three-day Explosion of Salsa
Oct. 18 – 20 Middle Tennessee will host accomplished salsa and Latin jazz percussionists Jesus Diaz, Richie Flores and Horatio Hernandez for multiple clinics and performances. They will perform a tribute to Celia Cruz and Tito Puente Oct. 18 at Club 527 (formerly Sweetwater). They follow that with two Friday performances at Vanderbilt University with The Nashville Jazz Orchestra. Diaz and Flores, also on hand for a Thursday morning MTSU clinic, will again perform with an all-star cast of percussionists and horns Saturday night, Oct. 20, at 527.
