If you’ve never heard of the Winslow Family, now’s the time to start paying attention. Playing in the Murfreesboro area for a couple of years now, the Winslow Family includes multiple bands and artists representing some of the best this little town has to offer.
On April 26, the Winslow Family, which includes the Winslow Family Band, Espaso, the GO show, BSC and Kick Stick Bottle Ball, hosted a sizeable event at their home on Memorial Boulevard in the form of an art show/house party.
The art show began at 5 p.m. and included the work of multiple local artists including Tim Santos, Meghanne Thompson, local graffiti artist Kanser, Brian Marquez, Natalie Hogan and quite a few more.
During the show, it was possible to catch graffiti artists at work, relax to some oil projection (you know, like the psychedelic light shows from the ’60s?), and savor some tasty food off the grill.
Different members of the Winslow Family as well as people from the party joined an almost nonstop jam session, which included bass guitar, electric guitar, congas, drums, tambourine, saxophone, piano and turntables. It was an experience, to say the least.
Family member Phil Buck, who directed most of the goings-on, stated that the purpose of the event was to promote local artists and to really get people interested in and enthusiastic about local art and music.
