One Stop College Music Showcase ??April 14 ? 12 – 6 p.m. at Bluesboro, 114 Church St. (on the Square), Murfreesboro, TN
Sterling Y at 1 p.m.
With their record of modern sound, Sterling Y is a band to look out for, but to catch them live is to hear what it’s all about. The Sterling in their name is no accident; the riffs and backbeat are hammered silver. Twin guitar arrangements tightly wound as Queen unwind with an Aerosmith punch to the gut. It’s enough to say the lead vocals command an equal place at the table, and that’s no easy task given the tight riffs and a backbeat that’s heavy and supple at the same time. Few bands, this side of Zeppelin, have ever been able to muster.

With a list of accomplishments that includes performing in front Los Angeles to Nashville to winning the Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition when he was only 16, to opening for acts like Maroon 5, his funk/pop/rock sound can be compared to the like of Justin Timberlake and Prince. His 2006 release, “On My Way Out” has been creating buzz about the new meaning of the “sound of Memphis.” With a band full and a bag full of tricks, Chris Love’s live show and record are not to be missed. Fusing rock, reggae and blues riffs with insightful lyrics, The Running brings true uniqueness to the scene.
