Local retail businesses are promoting breast cancer awareness and raising money for the cause by selling t-shirts designed by local MTSU students. Legacy Ink Screen Printing recently held a shirt design contest for MTSU Textile and Merchandising Design students.
The winners Megan Devens and Christina Klins developed the design that adorns the t-shirts that Legacy Ink prints and distributes.
Troy Cheairs, owner of Legacy Ink, says proceeds from the shirts will go to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and MTSU Harriet Estes Memorial Scholarship.
Estes, a former professor in the department, passed away from breast cancer in 2005. The memorial scholarship and the student-designed shirts are dedications to raising awareness and remembering Estes.
Cheairs says he hopes to “generate money and awareness to the cause.”
The shirts can be purchased for $15 at Legacy Ink Screen Printing, Anastasia’s Attic, Leslie’s Shoppe, Penny’s Closet or Blue Raider Bookstore.
