What can you say about a night that is completely and utterly surprising and unbelievable in all the right ways, when the turnout is so unexpectedly large that you really don’t mind waiting a little longer for that extra-cold beer? Imagine wanting to bring people together from different backgrounds that have varying musical tastes?and they can all be more than satisfied due to the different genres of music?then it finally happens, those who came know they were exactly where they needed to be in the Universe.
Ben Sturgell’s dream of My Music Box Lounge (MBL) is finally starting to come to fruition. His idea came alive on Oct. 21, and the idea will continue every first and third Tuesday of the month at 527 Main Street. Exciting times bring meaningful people into our lives, and MBL is the prime event to catalyze anyone’s desires for multiple things.
B. Young from Prime Time Promotions attended, and Leon Timbo returned for an awe-inspiring, emotional rendition of what true life is really about, even in the quiet moments when no one is looking. With improvisations and everyone that played just being real with the audience, this event is not your average show. It is so much more. Even seemingly down people were laughing by the end of the night, as though something brought them there to be uplifted, not just musically, but in every way imaginable. I overheard people coming together after years of not seeing each other, and I saw people dancing and talking at the same time.
The energy of this show is more exciting than anything I have ever experienced in my seven years in this town, especially when Anna Foster got on that stage and owned it without being pompous or overextravagant. She was lovely and so was her backing band, with all their laughing, dancing smiles and groovy understandings of watching her for rhythm. I even discovered a new little area at Main Street complete with soft pillows and lounge chairs, and I have been to this venue many times!
If you want to be a part of the expanding music scene in the ’Boro, My Music Box Lounge is a must. Of course, it’s Your Music Box Lounge now, too.
