Paradise Daze is a pseudo-cover band that sounds like a cross between 311, Sublime, and a mixture of watered-down Bob Marley albums. Based out of Nashville, the group has gone through a series of lineup and genre changes. Finally finding their niche as a reggae-jam and cover band, Paradise Daze is now happily producing music. Featuring the talent of Matt Daughtry on guitar, Chris Ross on drums and Donnie Green playing bass, Paradise has two releases. The first is EP, Unity is Free, and the second being the full-length album, Irie Nights.
The full-length release came out this year and consists of 12 original songs recorded in the Purple Mountain Music Studios. The album stays true to the reggae-hip-hop rock sound that was made so popular by bands like 311 and Sublime. The influence of reggae music is very prevalent in the lyrics of Paradise Daze, which relay strong messages and “peace, happiness, unity and freedom.” For more information, check out myspace.com/paradisedazemusic.
Marujah, calling Tennessee home, originally formed as a musical group in San Diego in 2004. Describing themselves as “Latin Rock, Reggae, Disco and Punk,” Marujah has a sound of their own that features a lot of dancy jam-beats. Front man and vocalist, Enrique Madico is backed by a full band including DJ Anemone. The progressions in their music are almost incomparable to other acts as a result of so many musical genres merging together in their songs. In 2007 Marujah released full-length album Wetback and it is currently working on an album to be released sometime in the next few months. The band still tours and often plays in the Murfreesboro area. For more information, visit myspace.com/marujahband.
