Play Poker for CAC: Hold ’em or fold ’em for a good cause.

Coach’s Grill in Murfreesboro is holding a charity buffet and poker tournament on Saturday, Dec. 13, starting at 5:30 p.m., that benefits the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Rutherford County.

The all-you-can-eat buffet is $25 and includes soda. Along with the purchase of the buffet, patrons will get a certain amount of poker chips to participate in the Texas Hold ’Em style poker tournament.

“We encourage people to come to the buffet for the holidays,” said Edward Friz, one of the coordinators for the event at Coach’s Grill and a professor for the Management and Marketing Department at MTSU.

It is not necessary to purchase the buffet to support CAC as well as play in the poker tournament.

Patrons can also bring in toys to give to the CAC that will award them some poker chips to relax and enjoy the company of friends and try their skills in poker.

For those who have purchased the buffet, bringing in toys as well will provide them with bonus chips.

Reservations for the buffet are being accepted.

All ages are encouraged to come and play, and most importantly, help a good cause.

Coach’s owner Wayne Lawson, also a member of CAC, wanted to bring people together to have fun and support a charity he is a part of.

The CAC is an organization that provides support for neglected and abused children.

According to the Tennessee Chapter of Children’s Advocacy Centers, the estimated direct cost (care given by the CAC) of taking care of these children across the country is approximately $30 billion and the indirect costs (such as juvenile courts, loss of productivity in society) come to another $70 billion a year.
