Coach’s Grill Ringing in Spring with Fling

How about a little rock and roll with your hot wings?

The Spring Fling, an outdoor concert hosted by Coach’s Grill, aims to combine their sports bar fare with live bands. Acts slated to play include Cold Truth, 44 Vegas, Nocturnal Static, the John Sutton Band, Marshall Creek Band and the James Brothers Band.

“We plan to host two outdoor concerts a year, one in September and the Spring Fling in May. So, it’ll be a lot of local bands coming out for people enjoy,” Coach’s Grill Entertainment Manager Kila Elks said.

Cold Truth played the September concert and is slated to return May 2.

“We’re a classic rock-style band. We write our own stuff, and we just released our second album in November,” Cold Truth guitarist Kurt Menck said. “We did another show back in September at Coach’s (Coach’s-palooza) and that went real well?got a big turn out and a good crowd.”

The band suffered setbacks last summer when lead singer Thane Shearon was badly injured in a motorcycle crash. However, Shearon and Cold Truth are now doing well.

“He was out of commission for about six months, but he’s fully recovered now and ready to rock and roll again. I believe he’s at one-hundred-percent, and we’re very fortunate,” Menck said.

The band is currently writing new material in preparation for its next album, while playing and promoting their sophomore release, Do Whatcha Do.

Along with the bands, sponsors will be at the show to hand out prizes and host a beer tasting for concertgoers.

Coach’s Grill is located at 127 S.E. Broad St. in Murfreesboro, and the Spring Fling concert is slated for May 2, starting at 2 p.m. and running well into the night.

Cover is set at $8, with bottomless draft beer available for $10 and other drink specials throughout the day.

“We’re having a party to kick off the summer and to enjoy the nice weather, and we want everybody to bring out the chairs, set it up in the grass, stay all day and have a great time,” Elks said.
