Ladies and gentlemen of the ’Boro, pre-season football is a wrap, and it is time for the regular season. The Tennessee Titans finished preseason play 3-1 with the best game coming against the Packers. They looked pretty bad, though, down at the Dirty Birds’ dome in the ATL in their pre-season loss.
But the regular season is a whole other ball game that really has nothing to do with the pre-season at all. Sure, we all get jacked up and hyped when Chris Johnson blasts through the hole for a gain, but the real test is whether all the players step up for the big stage.
Regular season ball is here, baby! The season opens Sept. 4 with the Super Bowl champion Giants facing the Redskins and accelerates from there.
Few teams are more physical than the Titans, who open their season in Nashville against the Jaguars. Tennessee can dominate on both sides of the ball. That and the versatile play of Vince Young will always make this team dangerous.
But I am not just a Titans fan; I have a serious love for my struggling childhood Kansas City Chiefs team. They just haven’t been able to get it going for the last few years; they are in a good division, with the Broncos and Chargers leading the way. Come on Chiefs?my first Starter jacket was a Chiefs jacket, I have always showed you guys love, show the Train a little love, baby.
In the college world?MTSU, what a disappointment against Troy. Oh well, but I would love to see that program be what it should, and make big blue proud and loud here in Murfreesboro. And the Vols opened their season with a heartbreaking loss in overtime out in L.A. on Labor Day on a missed field goal.
