Well, a breather until this coming weekend was in store. Seeing Murfreesboro Little Theatre’s “Little Shop of Horrors” twice, once for a review, the second to take a friend and laugh my butt off, wore me out. All three weekends, all nine shows, were sold out.
Again, what a wonderful show it was, and one that MLT should be extremely proud of.
Tomorrow night, Friday, Sept.18, begins a two-weekend run of “My Fair Lady” at Lamplighter’s Theatre in Smyrna. This opens the 12th season for the church-run productions, and stage and film actor Lane Davies takes to the stage as Professor Henry Huggins. Mr. Davies is an alumni of MTSU, and his presence alone at Lamplighters will surely fill the house.
Greg Wilson, one of my favorite directors and actors on the Smyrna stage, directs this fine show, and it will be one to drive 20 minutes up Old Nashville Highway to see. Arsenic in October
Down the pike and worth waiting for, “Arsenic & Old Lace” runs Oct. 2-18 at Murfreesboro Center for the Arts; Matt Carr and Mary Rogers direct. Will I be going? Is The Pulse invited? It depends on the directors, I guess.

Another Lady
“My Fair Lady” also has a two-weekend run at the Arts Center of Cannon County, Oct. 2-17. Be advised it is not the same one as at Lamplighters, so no, Lane Davies will not be there to swoon over.

Anne Frank comes to MLT
“The Diary of Anne Frank” is in full rehearsals now at MLT. Bryan M. Booth and Sherry Sunday direct this show, starting Oct. 16, and it’s one I am anticipating, as the Log Cabin begins its 47th season in our city.

On Campus
Also, in line with the subject of the holocaust, MTSU’s Tucker Theatre begins its 2009-10 season with “Dear Finder” on Oct. 22 for a one-weekend run.
