The final MTSU BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) Senior Candidates Exhibition for the Fall 2009 semester will be on display through Dec. 10. Entitled “follow {y}our impulse,” it is a show designed around impulse and creativity.
According to the participants, Herbert Bayer said it best when he spoke of the combination of the head, the heart, and the hand in relation to creative thinking and designing. Creative thought, uncurbed passion, and refined talent are necessary for success, and we incorporate these ideals into our work daily.
We believe that as designers, we tend to design off our own impulses, as well as those we perceive from our audience and clients. This is not to say that what we do is not thought out or planned, such as an “impulse buy.” Rather, we define impulse as “an impelling action or force, driving onward or inducing motion.”
We are constantly driven by our passions and impulses.
Exhibit participants include Anna Lee, Bethany Hagans, Dana Shotwell, Dustin McCormick, Jill Sito, Kathryn Wakefield, Kelly Phimm, Skylar Everett and Tyler Evans.
The Todd Art Gallery is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
