The beautiful photography of Murfreesboro artist Bob Timmerman will be featured at Murfreesboro City Hall Rotunda through March 1.
“My photography is an extension of my love for nature, sports and people, and I strive to express that emotional connection whenever I pick up a camera,” Timmerman said. “A stroll through the woods with a camera in hand can be therapeutic for me, brightening the most stressful of days, and many times I’ve been amazed at the mental turnaround that a short photo hike can provide. In my nature photography I try to capture bird and wildlife behavior as it happens and hopefully convey a sense of “being there” for the viewer of my images. Whether my lens is directed at a simple backyard hummingbird encounter or a heron or hawk on the hunt, I strive to give an accurate representation of the behavior I witness. There are times when the action is almost imperceptible to an untrained eye, but those are the moments that make photography an art I treasure.
“The vast majority of my nature photography was shot in and around Murfreesboro, although many images from The Great Smoky Mountains and various state parks play major roles in my portfolio,” he continued. “It is my hope to convey my passion for this state’s beauty through my work.”
