The 14th Annual Main Street JazzFest will be Friday and Saturday, May 7-8, on the historic Courthouse Square in downtown Murfreesboro. This two-day celebration of live music has become one of the premier Tennessee festivals with attendance consistently above 25,000.
The Friday Night Jazz Jam features Rutherford County High School Jazz Bands. For many high school students, this offers an exciting and highly anticipated opportunity to performance before a live audience.
In addition to groups from area schools and MTSU, JazzFest also features touring jazz professionals annually.
This year’s headliner, Donald Brown, will present an interactive clinic Saturday afternoon where students and others interested in jazz performance are invited to participate. This aspect of the festival has grown from a partnership with the MTSU Music Department.
The Fest also includes a special children’s area, plenty of food for sale, a beer garden and a garden mart, a place to “jazz up your garden” with unique garden art, accessories and container plantings.
