With the release of its first EP Divide & Conquer, Love’s Tragedy is looking to make a name for itself using the standard formula used by most mainstream rock bands.
Consisting of Colleen Alanna on vocals, Keith White on guitar, Billy Bones on bass and David Dicks on the drums, Love’s Tragedy packs hard-hitting, in-your-face rock sounds that rip through each track on Divide & Conquer.
Alanna’s sultry vocals are brilliantly showcased throughout the EP, often sounding similar to Amy Lee (Evanescence) and Grace Potter (Grace Potter and The Nocturnals). The perfect compliment to Alanna’s expansive vocal range is the intense rock sound generated by the band.
The full range of the band’s talent never fully manifests in this EP. In each of the six songs, the instrumentation sounds almost identical to the song before it. The EP, while well-produced and written, doesn’t have a unique sound. It has the same sound that almost all mainstream rock has.
Divide & Conquer is well-produced and has a very polished sound. The tracks are well-written, and it shows that the band’s potential is limitless. With this release, it should be easy to recruit a fan base, and with a tweak or two in their sound, they should have no problem keeping their fans happy and wanting more.
