The Lead Belly Blues Children’s Music Festival – Sept. 1
The Lead Belly Blues for Blue Children’s Music Festival is a fundraiser held Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Boys and Girls Club in Murfreesboro. Gates open at 11 a.m. with music performances from noon–5 p.m. Funds raised from the $5 admission and vendor fees at Blues for Blue will provide music lessons through the Lead Belly Foundation and programs at the Boys and Girls Club. Look Who’s Living in Tree Houses! – Sept. 1–7
This summer, families can spend some quality time hanging out in the trees with a visit to the Discovery Center Tree Houses through Sept. 7. This exhibit includes fun, hands-on ways to explore the important roles that trees play in providing homes for all sorts of wild things (including people!) and engages forest explorers of all ages in indoor nature explorations and the ecology of sustainable harvesting. Tree Houses is open Monday–Saturday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and on Sunday from 1–5 p.m. Admission is $6 per person; children younger than 2 are free.
