The Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit is a 3-day music festival staged in the heart of downtown Asheville, NC. Woven around the twin threads of contemporary electronic music and the creative use of old and new technology, the vision and programming philosophy behind the festival celebrates the creative spirit of musical exploration, along with the innovative spark that fuels all of the arts. The mountain oasis that is Asheville provides extraordinary inspiration as a stunningly beautiful and unique setting for the festival. Both its rich cultural history and its current innovative vitality are inseparable from the Mountain Oasis experience.
The events all take place indoors, Oct. 25-27, all within easy walking distance of one another, in the heart of downtown Asheville.
Mountain Oasis will host the US premiere of King Britt Presents Fhloston Paradigm featuring Pia Ercole. This was created by King Britt in an experimental attempt to go back to a semi primitive process of CV triggers and analog sequences. Within this experiment lies the connection between old world ideas and new world technology, with the result remaining otherwordly and the outcome being somewhere between “Blade Runner” and “808 State.”
In addition to the weekend full of live performances, an Inventors’ Roundtable, Artist Spotlight: An Interview with Gary Numan and a slew of other activities including workshops, art installations and other interactive experiences are also on tap. This festival is being produced by Knoxville-based AC Entertainment, the folks behind Bonnaroo, Big Ears, and Forecastle. They also produced and programmed Moogfest from 2010-2012.
