After establishing his store as a downtown Murfreesboro fixture and one of the top music stores in the county, Music Stop owner Allen Haynes made the tough decision to relocate the shop.
The Music Stop celebrated a grand opening at 215 Robert Rose Dr. on March 1, and now there’s no looking back.
“This is more than just an relocation of the store. We have been working hard to make the new location a store that fits the community. I have spent several months talking with musicians in the area, both customers and non-customers, to help me better understand what we need to focus on, and have gotten a great amount of feedback,” Haynes said. “We will be carrying several new product lines, but our big focus is going to be on education.
“The new lesson program is really outstanding. I have Brenda Haynes and Sheri Morris overseeing the program and they have already made amazing changes.”
The Music Stop will continue the festivities with a March 8 in-store performance by Jim Boggia.
“Jim is an amazing songwriter,” Haynes said of the performer, who hails from Philly. “All of his albums are eclectic in nature and every track is awesome.”
The music begins on that Saturday evening at 7 p.m. with performances by Ryan Crowley, Jordan Bennett, Mike Mason and John Salaway, with Boggia to follow.
The Music Stop is now occupying the space formerly housing Digital Planet. Don’t worry, Digital Planet is still in action. After reducing its inventory, Digital Planet has set up shop in a smaller unit on the other end of the 215 Robert Rose building.
I had no idea the Music Stop even existed in the first place. Perhaps I’m not the only one. Never seen an ad. Never seen a sign. Never seen any representative at any of the hundreds of networking events I attend. I may be an anomaly, but my business is music and if I don’t know you exist (and I would think I would be a target customer) that might be an alert. Not saying it is, just having a thought out loud.

Funnily enough, my business isn’t remotely involved with music and I knew of The Music Stop’s “mysterious” existence.

Neil, I’ve been in this business For 22 years and never heard of you either. Funny… Instead of of being a negative, supposed brother in music, maybe you should stop by and make sure you are truly in the same business as The Music Stop (btw, you’re not). It doesn’t mean that your business isn’t important, it just means The Music Stop isn’t involved in the same aspect of the business you are. BTW, being a DJ doesn’t mean you’re in the music business. It simply means you spin records at weddings.
