The Sidewalk Prophets, Grant Norsworthy, The Henningsens, Janelle Arthur, Cherish the Blue and Jackson Thatcher will team up at a March 6 concert to benefit Murfreesboro adoption agency Heaven Sent Children.
Over the years, international adoption rules and regulations have changed since the Hague Convention on International Adoption took effect. Smaller nonprofit agencies often struggle to raise the funds needed for the accreditation required to facilitate an international adoption. A concert fundraiser to raise the money to obtain Hague accreditation is at the forefront of HSC’s goals.
“Just because countries have closed their doors or made it more difficult to adopt, it does not mean that there are no longer orphans,” states Heaven Sent Children social worker Stephanie Williams. “Millions of children around the world are now warehoused in institutions to be turned out at a young age in countries where bloodlines and gender are of utmost importance. They have no hope of rising above their circumstances or social status,” says Williams, “and their futures are bleak. It is our moral obligation to help those in need, especially when we have the ability or know-how to do so.” After 23 years of locating loving, adoption-educated families for special-needs children, especially in Korea and China, the agency’s hands are tied. Heaven Sent Children wants to serve children in these countries again and the families who deeply desire to parent them and give them a forever family.
The benefit show will be held Friday, March 6, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Rocketown, 601 4th Avenue S., Nashville.
Tickets are available at Heaven Sent Children, 1800 S. Rutherford Blvd., Murfreesboro, at Salt & Pepper Christian Bookstore or Christian Publishers Outlet, or online at familiesareforeverconcert.com.
