Murfreesboro Little Theatre to Present Andy Ford’s Peach Blossom in June

Murfreesboro Little Theatre presents Peach Blossom, opening June 5 for two weekends.

Written by local actor, designer and director Andy Ford, this original work deals with the subject of manic depression and the effects it has on the Tibble family. Faye, a highly strung former actress, returns home after a lengthy hospital stay to find that her college-aged daughter, Carrie, has announced wedding plans. Depressed over what she believes is a suffocating life, Faye’s heart wants what is best for her daughter. At first, she proposes a royal wedding fit for a queen; later, she warns Carrie of letting love trap her into a meaningless existence. To complicate matters, and her stability, Faye’s sister has taken over the mother/wife role in her absence, and Faye’s son has recently committed suicide.

Directed by Wayman Price, the Peach Blossom cast includes Lora Hortert, Victoria Crawford, Christopher Hawkins, Lourdes Luster, Alex Fingeroot, John Thomas Powers, Mason Womack, Samantha Dean, Mandy Jones and Molly Womack.

Show dates are June 5–7 and 12–14. Friday and Saturday productions start at 7 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, and MLT member tickets are $5. To make a reservation, visit mltarts.com or call (615) 893-9825.
