A man set fire to the Harding Inn on Harding Road in Nashville last month; although the hotel has been abandoned for years, numerous homeless individuals had taken up residence in the large building, which contained many rooms still furnished with beds.
They are now back on the streets, camping or otherwise looking for the next place to lay their heads, as demolition has begun on the Harding Inn, according to Scott Walker, a photographer with Small Town Big World and friend to the homeless community.
“Homeless who were there are still living in that area,” Walker said. “One woman is 10 weeks pregnant and on the street. Another man suffers from a number of health issues at the age of 57.”
One woman, Rocky (pictured here), an alcoholic with Stage 4 liver disease, has moved to Oregon to live with family there.
“Her real name is Raquel, named after Raquel Welch, as her father was a big fan,” said Walker.
