The International Music and Entertainment Association will host its annual awards ceremony at MTSU’s Tucker Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 8. For its fourth year, the IMEA will honor the best in independent music and community theatre on an international scale. Awards are presented in more than 50 categories and span many genres including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Band/Group of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Music Video of the Year and more than 20 others. The theatre awards are presented in two separate divisions including Play and Musical and in 19 different production and performance categories, including Leading Actor, Leading Actress, Featured Actor, Featured Actress, Outstanding Direction, Scenic Design, Sound Design and others.
“We are very excited to bring our award show to the Nashville area. We’ve conducted an extensive search for the perfect venue based on several factors,” IMEA President Colt Chambers said in a release. “We are so looking forward to bringing this event to the Tucker Theatre.”
The awards ceremony features musical performances from nominees, special guests and theatre ensembles from across the world. A few local nominees include Americana and country acts Cole Washburn, Jet Black Cadillacs, Karianne Jean, Van Wild and more. The red carpet arrivals will begin at 5 p.m. and the awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Ticketing information and the full list of 2016 nominees are available at imeaawards.com.
