Footloose, a musical based on the blockbuster 1984 film of the same name, centers around a group of high school students as they work together to change a town law that forbids dancing. When Ren (Nicholas True) and his mother Ethel (Shanda Perkins) move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren finds it hard to adjust to his new life including the small town high school, his fellow students and the local preacher, Reverend Shaw (Keith Wortham), who seems to have a lot of power over the townspeople.
Isabella Kearney, Sophie Young, Poem Atkinson and Aurora Boe
Ren, who is used to dancing his troubles away at Chicago nightclubs, faces a harsh awakening when he learns that dancing is forbidden in his new town. Realizing that this is the reason everyone in the town is so wound up, Ren sets out to organize a school dance to alleviate the stress his fellow classmates are facing while also making a statement to the town council that dancing shouldn’t be outlawed.
With the help of his friends, Ariel (Isabella Kearney), Willard (Tucker Young), Rusty (Sophie Young), Wendy Jo (Poem Atkinson) and Urleen (Aurora Boe), they work together to put on a dance to change the hearts and minds of the council members. However, they face challenges as the reverend does everything in his power to ensure the dance never happens. The heartfelt story that emerges is one of loss and healing.
Come join the cast of unforgettable characters in this story about a group of adolescents who find joy and face challenges while trying to affect change in their small community.
