Here at Morter Family Chiropractic we go beyond just adjusting our patients. We strive to correct the issues our patients are having in order to restore their health so that they can experience life.
The Morter Chiropractic team would like to start the year off with a few points to help everyone develop good healthy habits going into the new year.
We will first address stress and anxiety. We all have it in some way, shape or form. 2020 definitely brought about a lot of unseen doses of both stress and anxiety. Many have experienced various forms of stress during 2020—physical, mental, emotional or chemical stress.
The repetitive movements from our day-to-day lives can bring about physical stress, like the electrician looking up over and over to fix a light or an office worker hunched over a computer all day.
The mental and emotional stress can speak for themselves. Nowadays, many are working longer hours and most households are single-income homes. Pushing to make ends meet has always been a struggle for some, but we have seen that even more this past year.
Chemical stress includes the things we are putting in our bodies—the sugar, the unhealthy foods, the sodas, alcohol, tobacco . . . and the list goes on. We can’t leave out the things we put on our bodies—the lotions, the body washes, the colognes. We put these on our largest organ, the skin. Our bodies then absorbs all of those toxins. And then what?
After all of this stress we put our bodies in a state of destruction. No wonder we are at an all-time high for stress, anxiety and depression.
Dr. Josh Morter has been able to help his patients in dealing with both stress and anxiety through his chiropractic treatments. He provides patients with a plan to help them manage their pain while taking steps toward getting their lives back. Dr. Josh does not take a cookie-cutter approach to helping people reach their health goals.
Chiropractic care helps relieve stress in several ways. By adjusting the spine, Dr. Josh can help alleviate muscle tension, relaxing the body and increasing blood flow. This can also help the body’s fight-or-flight response. Adjustments can also help with anxiety and depression. Most often, people who suffer from mental health disorders also suffer from headaches or migraines. Chiropractic care is an excellent choice in treating these conditions. By releasing the tension and stiffness along the spine, some anxiety and debilitating depression can be reduced.
Pain can cause many individuals to have increased levels of stress and anxiety. When we relieve the pain patients are experiencing, naturally they are more relaxed.
According to the Tennessee Chiropractic Association, in addition to stress and anxiety, chiropractic treatment can help with flexibility, weak immune systems, fibromyalgia and migraines and tension headaches.
