Join in a guided hike along a portion of Barfield’s Marshall Knob Trail and the Rocky Path Trail (approx. 2.25 miles) to discover beautiful landforms, springtime vegetation and signs of local wildlife Sundays March 7 and 21 at noon. These trails are moderately difficult, covering gradual inclines and declines, crossing crevices, rocky terrain and raised tree roots. Stop along the way to enjoy a picnic lunch and share personal discoveries and inspirations along the trail. March 10 – American Red Cross Heroes Event
This annual Heroes event is a time of both recognition and awareness while celebrating virtually this year. Celebrate the work of Red Cross volunteers while honoring the 2021 Hero, Tennessee’s 76th Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Jeffrey H. Holmes, and highlighting the Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces. The Red Cross services and programs provide humanitarian and emergency aid to the community when disaster strikes, life-saving training to individuals and companies, blood products to those in need and support to the military, veterans and their families. March 12 – Kendria Walker Book Signing
Linebaugh Public Library (105 W. Vine St.) welcomes local author Kendria Walker for a book signing on Friday, March 12, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Walker signs and sells copies of her book Little Angels, published in July 2020. Little Angels helps to lessen the fear children have in losing a loved one or friend. The book shares that when people transition to heaven, they are angels that still watch over them. Walker is a 2009 MTSU graduate and does hands-on work in the local community. Her goal with this book is to give every child a first step towards the development of a love for reading and to improve overall literacy one book at a time. The books are $10.

MWRD’s Fix-A-Leak Week 2021 is a virtual observation to bring awareness to the importance of finding and fixing leaks inside and outside your home to save valuable water, time and money. It’s time to give back to someone who is always giving to others. Van Hill was diagnosed with Stage 2 prostate cancer, and he has been undergoing expensive treatments. Every fourth Thursday, Community Café provides lunch for The Journey Home (308 W. Castle St.). The Journey Home is a daytime homeless mission that provides meals, clothing, showers, laundry and many other needs. Sign up for one or both crews. The cooking and prepping crew works from 8:30–11 a.m.; prepare the meal and help set the room for 100 guests. No skills are required. The serving crew works from 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.; provide a full-service meal for guests like making plates, filling glasses and delivering it to the table. A group of 21 local artists encourages a better 2021 through the gift of a pop-up mural at the Walnut House (116 N Walnut St.). The temporary mural was organized by artist Ginny Togrye. Ricki Martini facilitated in the logistics of hanging the 36-by-46-inch panels in a collage format. In support of promoting MLK Day in January, The Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center has created a way to produce a student art show at the museum (415 S. The program prepares children for organized tee-ball, baseball and softball in a fun and safe environment. It also prepares children and their parents for organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Registration is held throughout the month of March at Sports*Com, McFadden Community Center, Patterson Park Community Center and the main office at Barfield Crescent Park on Fridays in March at 6 p.m. Space is limited. Registration begins in March and runs throughout the month; the program begins April 9 and lasts seven weeks. The fee is $50 and covers the cost of assorted equipment and a T-shirt.
