Hop Springs Hosts Aug. 29 Concert to Support Middle Tennessee Homeowners Affected by Severe Weather

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED; STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES

They’re the world my world revolves around
My sacred piece of solid ground
The flesh and bone that gives me strength to stand
They’re the fire in my drivin’ on
The drive behind my comin’ home
The livin’, breathin’, reason that I am
A family man

Country artist Craig Campbell croons those words in his song “Family Man.” And it’s no secret that, all across Middle Tennessee, many families still struggle daily—a fact which also isn’t lost on the nonprofit Inspiritus. In fact, Inspiritus Disaster Relief makes it its mission to turn “surviving to thriving” and they’re continuing to demonstrate that through a concert this month at Murfreesboro’s Hop Springs Beer Park and Brewery.

“Many households in Middle Tennessee have had a hard year, working to recover from the tornado or the floods, while navigating COVID-19 health and economic disasters, too. Inspiritus staff and volunteers are committed to providing home repair assistance to ensure these families are able to go from surviving to thriving again,” said Virginia Spencer of Inspiritus. “We appreciate Hop Springs for hosting this event and these great artists for providing wonderful entertainment for a great cause. This event will provide hope to many families who are still recovering from the tornado and the floods.”

Presley & Taylor

Campbell (whose other hits include “Fish,” “Outskirts of Heaven,” “Keep Them Kisses Comin’” and “Outta My Head”) will headline the Sunday, Aug. 29 event, joined by rising country artists/sister duo Presley & Taylor. Presley & Taylor have sung alongside Trick Pony’s Keith Burns on the twists and turns in “Everybody Loves a Comeback” and recently signed a record deal with White Mustang Records as its first artist; label head James Stroud calls them “a force we can all be proud of,” and they have wasted no time in becoming fast-rising fixtures on the CMT 12-Pack Countdown. They even joined in the fun at the recent RomaDrama movie special fan event in Franklin.

CJ Solar, Mark McKay and Liam Coleman are set to perform at the benefit as well, and comedian Reno Collier will serve as the guest host and MC. They do say laughter is the best medicine, and there’s never a bad time to “stand up” to tragedy.

“It’s crazy,” says publicist B. Craig Campbell (not the artist performing at the show), “but there are still a lot of people with tarps on their roofs and other unresolved damage from 16 months ago. Covid has been a big part of that, both with the ability to assess and fix damage and also the prices of lumber and other building materials that skyrocketed last year.”

Inspiritus provides long-term recovery assistance for families and individuals who have unmet needs following a natural disaster. The nonprofit’s work includes assessing each family’s or individual’s comprehensive needs after a storm, and ensuring those needs are met by providing free services such as debris removal, home repair or home rebuild construction management when home owners are unable to financially recover on their own. Donations for disaster relief will be accepted at the event.

Organizers hope this evening will be a much-needed step in celebrating that “making ends meet” is only the beginning in local disaster relief.

Adult tickets start at $20 with add-on options and commemorative items available via Eventbrite. Attendees can bring their own chairs unless using the reserved picnic table ticket option.

The Aug. 29 benefit runs from 2–7:30 p.m., with a $5 donation for parking. Hop Springs Beer Park and Brewery is located at 6790 John Bragg Hwy.
