Search for a Unique Antique Treasure at July 14–16 Murfreesboro Antiques Show & Sale

The Murfreesboro Antiques Show & Sale returns for its 56th annual show this July. This year, the show will feature over 50 dealers from 17 states.

Founded in 1967 by antique dealers in Murfreesboro, The Murfreesboro Antique Show is one of the longest-running antique shows in the state. The show has changed ownership a few times since its creation, but eventually found its way to Chris and Missie McCoy, who bought it in 2018. Chris, who has a background in promotion and marketing, saw the opportunity to take over the antique show after working as a promoter for estate sales.

“I’m like Don King,” Chris McCoy said. “We don’t participate [as antique dealers], just promote. I’m the ad man.”

The McCoys travel across the country, looking for the right dealers to join the show. This process ensures that all antiques at the show are authentic, quality antique pieces. They also look for antique dealers who promote a happy and welcoming atmosphere.

“We treat our dealers like family,” Chris said.

The Murfreesboro Antiques Show features many different types of antiques. From artwork to old advertising, jewelry to lamps and furniture pieces, the show offers a little something for everybody. A few years ago, a signed copy of Gone with the Wind was sold at the show.

“You never know what to expect,” McCoy said. Dealers at the show will often change out items daily, making each visit unique.

Chris describes the promotion process as very involved, coordinating the dealers and placing advertising in newspapers and local TV spots. While their target demographic is mostly the older population, the show draws a variety of attendees of all ages with an interest in antiques.

Now a firm staple of the community, the 2023 Murfreesboro Antiques Show will take place from Friday, July 14, through Sunday, July 16, opening at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. The show will be held at the Mid-TN Expo Center, 1660 Middle Tennessee Blvd. in Murfreesboro, and admission is $7 for all three days. McCoy looks forward to this 56th show and hopes it will continue for another 56 years, carrying on the antique show tradition.

“Come out and see what we have. You may find something you love,” he said.
