Songwriters Priscilla Sanders and Miss Meaghan Owens Present Walnut House Show June 29

Singer-songwriter duo Priscilla Sanders and Miss Meaghan Owens—formerly known as The Coconut Cowgirls when the two performed together in Maui a decade ago—will reconvene at the Walnut House on Thursday, June 29.

The night of country, folk and Americana originals, some co-written by the duo, will begin at 6:30 p.m.

“I’m a hometown girl performing my songs for the first time since 2017,” Sanders said. “Meaghan Owens is coming down from Wisconsin to do the show with me—she’s been a full-time, touring pro.”

The guest of honor at the show will be Murfreesboro native Maggie Vaughn, Poet Laureate of Tennessee. In the 1960s Vaughn wrote several songs with Loretta Lynn for Conway Twitty and others before she focused solely on poetry. Now 85 years old, she has held the title of Poet Laureate of Tennessee since 1995.

Sanders and Owens will perform some of Vaughn’s songs at the June 29 show and will also invite her to read a few poems of her own.

Tickets are $20 (cash or Venmo) at the door; the Walnut House is located at 116 N. Walnut St., Murfreesboro.
