Murfreesboro filmmaker Ricky Burchell released his latest picture, Eating Me Up, in May 2024.
Now available on Fandango, Google Play, Apple TV, Amazon and other digital platforms, the film confronts mental health and eating disorders, delivering an exploration of personal struggles and the journey to redemption. Inspired by true events, the movie chronicles psychologist Daniel Dawson’s struggle with his own demons while remaining dedicated to his clients. His downward spiral is halted by Wendy, a client battling bulimia. As Daniel becomes fixated on saving her, he uncovers her dream to sing, hindered by severe anxiety. When Wendy takes drastic action during a pivotal performance Daniel arranges, he races against time to prevent tragedy.
Written and directed by Burchell—on the heels of other recent releases including One More Dream, anybody, Consider the Lilies and AM Radio—Eating Me Up stars Alfred Lamar Pierce II, Claire Maultsby, Siane Wilson and Ashanti Harris.
