TriStar StoneCrest ER Plans to Bring 24/7 Emergency Care to South Murfreesboro

South Murfreesboro is growing faster than ever, but for too long, residents in this thriving community have lacked something critical: immediate, around-the-clock emergency care.

That’s about to change.

On May 15, TriStar Health announced its intention to build a freestanding emergency room in south Murfreesboro, bringing 24/7 access to emergency care much closer to home for the tens of thousands of residents in southern Rutherford County.

The Barfield community is expected to be the location for the proposed TriStar Murfreesboro ER, which will operate as an extension of TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna.

This facility represents a $19 million investment in the health and well-being of the south Murfreesboro community.

Emergency Care Where You Need It Most
For many families living on the southern end of the city and county, the nearest emergency room can be a 20- to 30-minute drive away, especially during peak traffic hours along I-24 and surrounding secondary roads.

In a medical emergency, every minute counts.

“We’ve heard the community loud and clear,” said Lou Caputo, chief medical officer of TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center. “South Murfreesboro is one of the fastest-growing areas in the state, and residents shouldn’t have to leave their neighborhood to get lifesaving care. This ER would provide a quicker, more convenient option for patients who experience emergencies.”

The new ER would be equipped to handle nearly all medical emergencies and will feature:
11 treatment/exam rooms
1 trauma room
Lab and advanced imaging department
Nursing station
3-bay ground transport base

A Trusted Name in Healthcare
TriStar Health has long been recognized for its commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care. The new TriStar Murfreesboro ER builds on this legacy, providing South Murfreesboro with the same trusted care patients have come to expect from TriStar StoneCrest and the broader TriStar Health network.

“This project reflects our mission to improve access to high-quality emergency services and meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing counties in the country,” Caputo said. “This is our promise to be there for this community when it matters most.”

Supporting a Growing Community
Rutherford County is indeed the fastest-growing county in Tennessee, and South Murfreesboro is at the epicenter of that expansion. The area is seeing more homes, families and schools. With that comes a greater need for nearby medical resources.

This new facility will help reduce pressure on emergency services in the region, offering a convenient and much-needed option for local residents.

This location was carefully chosen to serve neighborhoods in and around Barfield, Rockvale, Christiana and the southern corridor of Rutherford County.

A Vital Step Forward
Whether it’s a child’s late-night fever, a workplace injury or something more life-threatening, Murfreesboro families deserve to get the help they need quickly. The new TriStar Murfreesboro ER would make that possible.

TriStar Health believes healthcare should be close to home, easy to access and there when residents need it most. This new ER is just the beginning of its long-term commitment to keeping Rutherford County healthy and safe.
