Join Prohibition Home Brewing and Tennessee Wedding Wines for a wine-making class at Hop Springs (6790 John Bragg Hwy.) on Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 5:30–7 p.m. Pick your wine (20-plus varietals), pick your bottle (green, clear or blue) and pick your shrink cap color. HackMT 2026 is an annual hack-a-thon and project expo hosted by the Middle Tennessee State University Department of Computer Science beginning on Friday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. and ending at noon on Sunday, Feb. 1. The purpose of the event is to gather software developers, visual designers, programmers and computer and data science students from local universities and professionals from local industries to form teams to invent new web platforms, mobile apps, and electronic gadgets over the space of 36 uninterrupted, high-intensity hours. Jan. 31 – Polar Bear Plunge
On Saturday, Jan. 31, the annual the ice cold plunge returns to the outdoor pool at Sports*Com, located at 2310 Memorial Blvd. (enter on Dejarnette Lane). Arrive early at 8:30 a.m. for a showcase sampler of a variety of fitness classes on land and water, including instructors from both Patterson Park and Sports*Com. There will be a 1-mile Fun Run at 10 a.m., and then the icy plunge will take place at 11 a.m. when brave souls will head outdoors to plunge into the icy waters of the outdoor pool.
