The region’s Southern rock fans will have the chance to experience one of the genre’s legendary names live when Molly Hatchet performs at Hop Springs on Sunday, Aug. 23.

Formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1975, Molly Hatchet helped launch the Southern rock movement, combining twin- and triple-guitar harmonies with hard-driving rock, blues and boogie influences.

The band’s breakthrough album, Flirtin’ With Disaster, achieved multi-platinum status and remains a staple of classic rock radio.

Although the band’s last surviving founding member, guitarist Steve Holland, passed away in 2020, the current band isn’t simply a tribute act made up of newcomers. Several members have been associated with Molly Hatchet for decades. The longest-serving member and the band’s leader for nearly 40 years, lead guitarist Bobby Ingram, toured with several classic-era members and has overseen the band’s recordings and live performances since the late 1980s. Keyboardist John Galvin joined the band in 1983, and bassist Tim Lindsey actually played with Molly Hatchet founder Dave Hlubek in a group that pre-dated Hatchet in the early ’70s. The current players faithfully perform the classics that made Molly Hatchet famous—favorites including “Flirtin’ The Ivan Pulley Band will be opening for Molly Hatchet at Hop Springs.

Led by the multi-talented Ivan Pulley, the group is a captivating Americana/rock ’n’ roll outfit known for electrifying live performances and dynamic sound. The band blends unique styles to create a one-of-a-kind musical experience.
