Generation for Creation (GFC), a local arts program, held its Children’s Benefit Talent Show July 28 at MTSU’s Tucker Theater.

In its fifth year, the annual GFC talent event showcases children ages 7 – 17 in the categories of art, dance, drama, music and modeling.

“It is always so diverse?from classical music, country and original songs, to stand-up comedy and modeling,” said GFC founder and director Monica Johnson. “I am so impressed with the creativity of these children.”

In this year’s Art category, Aaliyah Gore of Antioch Middle School took first prize for a self-portrait.

In the Instrumental category, first place went to Sarah Smith, a student at the Enswood School, for her piano sonata performance.

In the Music category (7 – 12) first place went to Sunshine Scott, of Rockvale Elementary School, for her vocal rendition of “Blue Bayou.”

In the ages 13 – 17 division of the Music category, first prize was taken by Wesley Stiles, a student at Blackman High School, with the piece “Orange-Colored Sky.”

Aaliyah Gore also won in the modeling category, included for the first time in this year’s show and featuring a back-to-school theme.

In the Drama category, the first place winner was Sterling Scott of Rockvale Elementary School for his comedy routine

Finally, Chanice Gore, a student at Nashville School for the Arts, won first place in dance for her jazz-meets-hip-hop performance.
