Why wait for the weekend to go out and have fun? Don’t you want something other to do than go home and watch TV night after night?

Instead of sitting on the couch, try going out, having a drink and interacting with others for a change. Trivia night at local restaurants in the ’Boro is letting many people do just that.

Buffalo Wild Wings has been drawing a crowd of people with their Tuesday trivia nights for a while, and Chef Raymond’s has also recently started allowing its customers to duke it out with their intellect every Wednesday night.

Trivia night consists of two games, one starting at 7 p.m. and the other at 8:30, each game lasting around only an hour and 15 minutes. This is even a perfect idea for the early morning risers; you can still go out and make it home by 10.

The games deal with a wide variety of topics, so you don’t have to worry about each question being about a topic you know nothing about.

“It has everything from history and sports, to music and TV; about anything you can think of,” Ed Friz, director of the two trivia nights, said. “We try and make it fair, so that no one team is favored.” Friz said some other interesting topics include things like “Who am I?” in which the teams guess a celebrity by the clues given, or another called “Dead or Alive?” where the crowd has to guess whether or not the person named is deceased.

Each game has 10 rounds and starts off with three or four rounds that consist of some easier general trivia and the questions get harder as you go. By the end of the night, three teams become lucky winners of gift cards ranging from five to fifteen dollars.

“If you’re going to be there eating and drinking anyway, you can get some of your meal taken care of as well,” Friz said.

So, next time Tuesday or Wednesday rolls around, don’t sit at home watching reruns, but come out and join in some competitive fun; and if going to Buffalo Wild Wings to try it out, Friz recommends you and your crew show up an hour early, at 6 p.m., to get a seat.
