The Lockout is Over! Who’s Ready for Some Football?

Matt Hasselbeck comes from Seattle to lead the Tennessee Titans to the promised land

All I want is football. ALL I need is football. I don’t need a marriage. I don’t need kids. I need FOOTBALL! Maybe one day I will start a family once I meet that special lady. I am 26 years old and have at least four more years of just me and lady football. I love her and maybe at age 30 I will settle down, but not yet, baby.

Thank God that the lockout crap is over. Immediately after it ended, ESPN and the entire sports world focused their attention on NFL free agency, news, trades, players, teams, fantasy football, player holdouts and power rankings. The season is upon us—a full 16 game season! Like Jerry Jones said, it’s a deal unlike any professional sports league has ever seen. We are safe for a decade—a safe ten year contract until the players and owners will have to fight for their rights again.

The last five months with baseball and lockout talk don’t compare to my baby girl, football. I live for this!

I will have to compact my genius into a mini NFL report Train Daddy style, because that’s what my loyal readers expect. I should hold out from this sports game; everyone else does. People out there would freak without me. It might take a while, but someone would offer me $30 million guaranteed to come back and write.

Let’s start with some big name players who we will be seen in a new jersey this 2011 season. The Titans will be working with new QB, Matt Hasselbeck, as he was eager to leave Seattle. Did you know Seattle has the highest suicide rate in the country? Maybe it’s the rain. Plaxico Burress, fresh out of jail, signed a one-year deal with the Jets. Sidney Rice is headed to Seattle. Donovan McNabb is now the ringleader with the Vikings in a tough NFC North division. I am a fan and I hope he does well, but I believe that tank is going to be empty midway through the season.

What about that punk V.Y.? Well he is heading to Philly to back up Michael Vick after Kevin Kolb bounced and is now suiting up in Arizona, where I believe he will be successful. I love his skills and believe he will be a star after watching his limited play time. The Eagles also went out and got Nnamdi Asomugha and, to my dislike, Jason Babin. I hate the Eagles! I hate the fans, the organization, the fat coach, but their off-season acquisitions are so impressive they have to be recognized.

The Patriots went out and added two big personalities to their ball club, signing Chad Ochocinco to catch balls from Big Brady and Fat Al head-stomping Haynesworth will line up in a Patriot uniform. Let’s see if the fat ass can stay in shape, injury free and can keep his fat mouth shut. Then, just maybe he will help the Patriots collect more Super Bowl jewelry. I sure hope not!

My man Reggie Bush is leaving New Orleans and is going to be suiting up in the Sunshine State with the Miami Dolphins, where he plans to prove to the country that he can be a power back in and out of the tackles. I don’t know about all that, but he is a talent if used correctly. Well, for now that’s most of the big-name players suiting up this season in a new uniform. It’s going to be interesting baby! Hopefully Plaxico Burress learned his lesson while in jail. Regardless, he is back in New York, and I hope he remembers New York’s gun laws. Don’t go shooting yourself in the leg again, homeboy.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Pat Summerall while I was in Alabama, and this legendary 81-year-old man didn’t disappoint. He is most known for his live broadcast with John Madden and has been the commentator for 26 Super Bowls—more than any man in history. The man is a legend, playing at Arkansas and playing professional ball for the once-Chicago Cardinals, and wrapping it up with the New York Giants. Pat’s playing career is best known for a play called The Kick, where he kicked a 50-yarder in the snow and growling wind to defeat the Cleveland Browns and set up a Championship game (prior to Super Bowls) against the Baltimore Colts.

I live to meet legends like that and listen to their stories. Imagine this: his two assistant coaches at the time were a couple of guys by the names of Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry. Just a couple of guys right? Summerall told us that the legendary running back Jim Brown was the best player he has seen or known in his 65-year sports career. He is a recovering alcoholic, a legendary athlete, the undisputed heavyweight broadcasting champion of the world and one of my all-time heroes.

The Titans training camp has just opened up and the Captain Mayo and I plan to be in attendance to watch and analyze the 2011 team. In the heat of the Nashville sun, players and coaches are finally able to get to work and put the pieces of the puzzle together before the season starts.

I am very happy about the signing of Matt Hasselbeck. I believe he has a lot left in the tank, and given the right situation, he 100 percent has what it takes to lead a team to the Super Bowl; he already has once before with Seattle. I have heard over and over we need to get a quarterback to come in and help groom Jake Locker. I am very excited about the future with Jake and can’t wait to see him on the field. I loved it when Matt was being interviewed and they made that comment to him. He replied by saying it goes both ways; he plans on learning from Jake also. That, in my opinion, is a sign of good things to come from the QB position.

I am very disappointed, though, that the Titans were unable to get a deal done with Jason Babin, the one bright spot on a struggling defense last year. Jason stated that he was upset with the lack of interest the Titans showed him, and he signed a big deal with Philly. The Pro-Bowl defensive end had 13 sacks last season and was 1 of 2 players that represented the Titans in the Pro Bowl. I just don’t understand Munchak. Pay the man! I am excited about the signing of the white beast middle linebacker Barrett Ruud out of Tampa Bay. Their fans loved him and were upset he was released. Ruud will be taking the spot of Stephen Tulloch after he was released to Detroit. Ruud led the Bucs in tackles for the past four seasons, similar to Tulloch.

As of presstime, still no Chris Johnson. I heard through the grapevine he wants a deal talking $30 million guaranteed. And as I look and study other running back contracts, I can’t argue with Chris Johnson. Deangelo Williams just got $21 million guaranteed, and I have no clue why. Williams has been as productive as a second string running back the past couple seasons. So comparing Johnson to running backs and their contracts, it looks to me he deserves what he wants, so work it out you dirty rich Titans white men! Kenny Britt, as of now, is staying out of trouble and claims he is strictly focused on football and the Titans are rolling with him. The NFL though has yet to say if he will be penalized for all the jackass stunts he has pulled this off season. Hopefully, before this season starts, the team can go out and get a semi-quality receiver; there are a few left out there.

I am so ready to get this season kicked off. The Train Daddy is rolling out of the station, baby! So until next time, my loyal readers and you sexy women, keep it gangsta, and if you see a hater, do the Albert Head Stomp on that fool’s head. Peace my people!
