Imagine a nice warm summer day on the downtown square of Murfreesboro. A tour bus has pulled up on the curb and four smokers exude the sweet smells of hot dogs, hamburgers and barbecue. Beer in hand, happy audience members dance and sing to some hometown “backyard barbecue, smash-mouth country” music. Unfortunately this didn’t happen recently, but is only a vision of the ideal show shared by Butter and Vinny of the upcoming hit band Trailer Choir.

If you haven’t heard their music, you’re missing some really friendly, almost sing-a-long country-rock. After rubbing shoulders with Toby Keith, playing at college campuses all over the Southeast, entertaining real estate parties, weddings and even NASCAR races, their short tenure as best friends and musical performers has more than paid off. The duo met through muzikmafia.com in May 2006 and have been making people laugh, sing, and dance ever since.

Toby Keith attended their show at 12th and Porter and it was reported that the very next day, he was sitting around with his buddies playing Trailer Choir’s hit song “Beer-Gut.” Additionally, after a show at FUEL, their publisher Jenn Helle was approached by a very complimentary Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.

Butter, the lead singer, is a 1996 MTSU graduate and loves playing in Murfreesboro.

Vinny describes himself as a 350-lb. “hoe-hopper.” This was a term I wasn’t quite familiar with, but Butter quickly enlightened me, “Its like a mixture of hip-hop and hoedown,” immediately evident by his worn-out, but brand-new shoe soles. They are really happy with their self-written music, having completed over 100 songs together. Their combined antics are the perfect recipe for my favorite kind of laid-back evening.
